North Way East End History
North Way Christian Community launched the North Way East End campus in 2012 with Pastors Bryan McCabe and Freedom Blackwell serving as leaders of the congregation. Both pastors had a passion for urban ministry and Christian Community Development principles, so from the beginning, the campus focused on neighborhood engagement, reconciliation, and transformational impact throughout the week in addition to weekend worship experiences. In 2022, the North Way East End campus merged with the North Way Oakland campus to form what is now the North Way City campus.
North Way's First Ministry Hub
Located on Penn Avenue in East Liberty, North Way’s first Ministry Hub focuses on impacting the local community through meeting community needs, food ministry, counseling, poverty alleviation efforts, and small groups.
Staff and volunteers from North Way collaborate with many organizations and individuals to make a positive impact in East Liberty and the surrounding neighborhoods. The original church ministry center on Penn Avenue has been active since 2022, and in May of 2024, a new space opened on Highland Avenue to expand the impact of the Ministry Hub in the community.
